Bountiful Baskets

A great program has started here in Spokane called BOUNTIFUL BASKETS and we wanted to let all the sisters know about it in the ward. Some ladies in the stake have been doing it for a few weeks and have had a great experience. It is a cheap way to get some FRESH produce for a GREAT DEAL! Read the follow information about the program.

The website is http://www.bountifulbaskets.org/ Go there and you can read more about it. See if you are interested. It has already been successfully working in Arizona, Utah, Idaho and Nevada. The way it works is you go to the website and order your basket between Tuesday morning and Wednesday before 10pm. Then on that Saturday you are givin' a location to go and meet to pick up your produce. A delivery truck will meet you there as a group and divide out the fresh produce and then you take it in your own box or basket home. The cost is $15 each week, but you are not obligated to order every week. The first week it is $18 dollars but after your first week it is the $15.

First week this is what they got in their basket, all of this produce for $15:

1 bag clementines
4 grapefruit
4 bananas
1 bunch asparagus
5 pears
5 kiwi
2 heads romaine lettuce
4 red peppers
12 red potatoes
5 zucchini
1 pineapple
4 navel oranges

The next week, this is what they got in their baskets for $15:
1 head romaine lettuce
1 cabbage
1 bunch of asparagus
1 small acorn squash
1 2lb. bag of potatoes
6 bananas
6 oranges
7 kiwi
8 small apples
6 pears
1 pineapple

If we get enough people interested, they can have a drop off location closer to here. Right now pick up is at 7am Saturday mornings on the South Hill. Some wards meet at their building and rotate drivers. You can also split baskets with another family.
If you have any questions you can contact Kirsteen Winn from the stake at knkwinn@msn.com
